The Gnostics as in all the esoterics differentiated soul from substance. The latter not necessarily having God in it, or having a considerably lower amount. 

 

In Gnosticism, Sophia is comparable to the soul and resides in all humans as the Divine Spark.

Near the end of his life, Carl Jung declared in his book, Answer to Job that the initiation of a new age demanded, the “anamnesis” – the “remembering” – of the primordial feminine Sophia.

Psychologist Erich Neumann, recognized the task of remembrance as an awakening to call of the exiled Shekhinah. 

 

In the Kabbalah, when you are in touch with the Shekhinah within you, you are entering the dwelling place of a divine presence...

The awakening of the soul feels as if you have just arrived at a temple. You have been given access to the Divine. As you enter the room where the holy of holies resides, you can sense the spark of the Almighty deep within you.
